A few weeks back, there was some brouhaha about Dick Cheney asserting he wasn't subject to certain White House rules because he's part of the legislative branch of our government. Of course, when he was convening his energy task force and the legislative branch tried to compel him to disclose who he met with, he claimed they couldn't because he was part of the executive branch.

Now this brings me back to Freshman Physics. In Freshman Physics, we were taught that photons are particles of light. BUT despite having many characteristics that would make you classify them as a particle, they also behave as if they were energy waves. It was once thought that particles and waves were sort of mutually exclusive, so photons were a bit of a paradox, and the "joke" we were taught about photons was:

Q: Is light a particle or a wave?
A: Yes.

Ho, ho. Really funny... if you're a Physics geek. For the rest of us, our response to the joke is generally not laughter. It is: "Is this going to be on the test?"

But when all this Cheney stuff surfaced, the first thing to go through my mind was: "Is Dick Cheney a particle or a wave?"

According to Dick Cheney, the answer is apparently "yes".

Take that, Chuck Norris.

    thanks.
