Evil Greg, Ideas In Action, Cool T-Shirts, My Wife Blogs
Oct 10th, 2007 by Greg Bulmash
So, I've been a busy little beaver. After creating my "evil genius calls death ray tech support" post, I stumbled upon an abandoned missile base for sale on eBay. Realizing that this would be a perfect evil genius lair, I created the Evil Greg's Secret Lair blog, trying to get people to donate money to buy me the abandoned missile base. So far, a $10 donation from minion Amy and some great advice on fighting stalagmen and deep crows from Mike B. whose wisdom got him promoted to acting henchman, pending senate confirmation.
I decided to take my son to day care this morning so I could try to corner the center director and run my idea for the virtual school and day care combo by her and see what she thought. When I quickly broke down the numbers, showing how this could be marketed as a private school education for half the price of private school, she grabbed a note pad and started taking notes.
Yes, I know. You might say I'm "giving away a million-dollar idea". But let's look at that. There are probably three thousand million-dollar ideas thought and filed-away daily in each of the United States' 100 largest cities. That's around one hundred and ten trillion dollars worth of million dollar ideas every year, or close to ten times the 2006 Gross National Product of the United States. Assuming the U.S. produces 110 trillion dollars worth of million-dollar ideas, but only has a GNP of 11 trillion dollars, we can assume that a million-dollar idea needs more than someone merely thinking it to be worth a million dollars.
So, if I'm not going to do anything with it, both because I have enough "million-dollar ideas" to keep me busy and because the actual implementation of the idea falls well outside my range of experience, why not share it? I got the idea because it was a service I'd like to see available when my son is ready for kindergarten in a couple of years. If I'm not ready, willing, and able to put other ideas on hold and start that business myself, so it's there in two years, then my best bet is to seed the idea around so that hopefully someone else runs with it and that service is available by the time I'll want it.
Cool T-Shirts and More Cool T-Shirts
Since I finished a web dev contract at Microsoft, I've been occupying my time making some t-shirts that would make great gifts. They're fun, funny, and did I mention they make great gifts? Christmas is coming soon kids, make sure you get your SEO done before it's too late.
And last but not least, my incredibly talented and beautiful wife has her own art blog on which she's able to talk about all her amazing art and all of her artist friends. And she's got a badass domain name for it courtesy of yours truly... drumroll please... Blogging Queen dot com.
And that's all the news from Lake Stinky....
