So, there's been some hubbub in the "publisher" world about Google's new AdSense video unit. It's a video player that embeds ads plus videos from Google Video or YouTube. When people click on the ads in the player, the web site operator who's displaying the video unit gets paid, plus if the creator of the video is properly signed up with Google, they get paid too.
So let's look at the video unit...
Now what's interesting about this is that I didn't have to pick a video. Besides picking the most appropriate ads to go with what Google's robots think your site is about, they've got a second set of robots trying to pick the best video content to go with it. You can go around YouTube and Google Video and actually pick videos you want to show, or you can do like I did and let Google pick the video.
Seeing what videos Google picks is going to be more interesting than to see how much (if any) revenue is generated by the ad unit.
And then a regular google ad unit for good measure...
