Why I'm Boycotting McDonalds
Mar 5th, 2008 by Greg Bulmash
I've made it a bit of a tradition with my son for us to have McDonalds together once a week. Then I looked at the nutritional information on a bag of McDonalds fries.
A large fries has 8 grams of trans fats. Now, I knew I wasn't feeding him the healthiest food when I fed him McDonalds. It was a special junk food night. But while chains and manufacturers across the nation have removed trans fats from their foods (KFC, Taco Bell, and Wendy's dropped them over a year ago), McDonalds thinks it's fine to keep using them, despite mounds of evidence that they are one of the worst things you can eat and laws in many major cities outlawing their use outright.
I'm not one who thinks fast food is good for you. It's high in fat and salt. That's why it's not good for you, but also why it just hits the spot sometimes. But using trans fats in the face of all that evidence and all the laws is just a big "fuck you" from McDonalds to its customers.
If McDonalds is going to treat us that way, I'll take that money and the brand loyalty a weekly McDonalds night with Dad can build in a budding consumer and give it to a company that values its customers enough to kill them a bit more slowly,

I suggest people that are worried like dear Greg do some research into the Junk.
"statistically significant association " basically. We fear things that are really Junk Science.
