I updated my resume on Monster a couple of weeks back and today (Sunday) I got the letter from Rhonda again. She obviously doesn't filter her list as I'd think I'm the LAST person she'd want to offer an interview.

I must say, they've FINALLY updated their letter and it is much more professional sounding.

They fall into the trap of using a hotmail sending address (which may be Rhonda's personal address) and then ask you to reply to a gmail address. The criminal scam job offers often do that, so if they want to eliminate the last red flag from their contact process, the letter should come from the address they want you to reply to.

Still wish they wouldn't spam everyone who posts a resume, lives within 40 miles, and has a pulse. But on the last resume update I got two or three job spams from Farmers Insurance, and just one from Rhonda.

Maybe Rhonda Smith should be aware that some people (such as myself) get this e-mail and go to Google first thing. We don't call her because we would like to make a good first impression by knowing something about the company before calling. I don't know about anyone else, but the last thing I want to do on a phone call with a potential employer is sound like I didn't do my research. I do not like saying "I'm not sure" to an employer.

So the fact that she is calling these people whom she e-mails "lazy" for not just calling and asking her a question, or for critiquing her letter (which did strike me as some sort of scam) is not only uncalled for but simply bad business. She is digging her own hole, in a way.

Thank you for beginning this topic. It has definitely saved me a lot of time and effort.

To all: I received this email as well and I took a different approach. I googled Healthmarkets (all one word) and the companies website was the first thing that came up. I looked at the copany contacts list and saw that Mega-Life was one of their parent companies. I have already met with a different insurance company and their parent company is also Mega-Life. They are a reputable company and one of the companies the work with (First Choice) was my insurance provider for 6 years and they too are a great company. I do not currently work in the industry, I do not know Rhonda (although I did respond to her after researching the company), but I am interested in the position. People who have worked in sales of intangible items understand that it is very difficult and the turnover rate is extremely high, therefore the constant hiring. A company like Healthworks probably only retains 1 out of every 30 they hire for more than a year. They don't fire them, people just quit because they realize it's really hard. Do I agree with the hiring practice? No. But I am an extremely motivated individual who has and knows how to make a 6 figure income in sales and I do see this as a good opportunity for a qualified candidate. I told Rhonda in my email I would not go in for a "cattle call" interview and if they would like to meet with me I need a set appointment. So Rhonda if you read this and check your email you will know who I am by the cattle call comment. My suggestion to you Rhonda would be this: Let the bloggers blog, read what they have to say, Make changes to your methods if you think it is appropriate, and don't ever bother to respond. You will only get caught up in a back and forth situation that you will not benefit from it.

Hi you all,

Thanks much for posting these comments about this company. otherwise i would have been fallen for interview with 'em. I have received this same type of email from Rhonda Smith saying they offer me a job interview. Normally the company sends you an interview post a week ahead while I received it on Sunday and then to be interviewed on tuesday. only two days. additionally, this email tends to lack of info. no website, no job description, and so on. I wondered for 30 minutes and decided to call the number she provided. She says the same thing as you guys have told, average 72,000 in the first year for a god shake, too good to be true. by now I have googled this and meeting all you guys in here. thanks god, otherwise I have to drive all the way up there in Kirkland and would have to wait for hours in the line up of 10-30 dudes up there, and wonder if these guys have a sales background or not. I have a BA degree in Finance, and I have a tough time to find a job for $35,000-40,000/yr...and this type of job requires no degree and would end up with 72,000 in the first year.

Again, thanks guy for letting me know

@Rhonda: I said I believed it was your real name, but that due to the deceitful tactics you have used here and elsewhere, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. Honestly, I don't care what your real name is or what your maiden name is, or what your brother's best friend's cousin's dog's name is. I hadn't thought about this page in 7 weeks until you decided to add fresh content to it.

Greg,

For your information, Rhonda Smith has been my name for the last 15 years, you wouldnt even be able to say my maiden name. I dont understand why you want to trash me personally, for doing my job. I am only trying to make a living like everyone else. As far as I have been able to determine, Cornerstone is a legitimate marketing firm, marketing health insurance for small businesses and the self employed. I am sure if it were a scam we wouldnt be in business right now. I would appreciate if you would stop targeting me directly, since all I do is set appointments for the offices. I am not a fraud, or a scam, or doing business under an alias. I am just doing what I am being paid for. Setting appointments. Maybe your readers should do more research before blindly listening to you!

I received one of these today from Rhonda Smith, Scheduling Coordinator, hiring Sales Representatives.

I have NOTHING in my resume that indicates that I am a sales person - haha!

Guess what? DELETE!

Daylene,

If you're looking for Robert D. Sellers, of course they won't have a record. The name is Robert D. Sells. Dunno if his business is registered or not, but you need to be accurate when you make claims like you did.

Another one saying "oh darn". I also have been on Monster, I actually refer to it as Mobster, and now I understand why. This morning I received two very similar recruiting letters and was initially very excited at my first responses after all this searching. I decided to google the company, Robert D. Sells, and this is what came up!

I sure appreciate the heads up as I probably would have fallen for the interview, being a trusting and hopeful career hunter. I am beginning to think companies that recruit have very unscrupulous techniques. I also have gone with CareerBuilders and AppleOne, and never heard a word back, nor a reply to an email. How do they continue to get away with it, and are there any good ones out there? I am beginning to think not.

Godd luck and thank you all for the enlightenment.

Larry B: In everything I've seen, Rhonda Smith does seem to be her real name. And if it's not, we've got plenty of proof that she's deceptive and defensive. Tracking down her real name wouldn't serve any purpose but to make this more personal.
