Just caught this latest job scam sneaking through my spam filters. It shows the classic signs of job scams. I'll provide the text and then debunk it.
From: Brenton Sanchez <aaa161@ac-hotels.com>Good day,
My name is Julia Knowles, I work as an employee manager of Natural Resources Inc . Your resume has been found at one of job-sites, and here is the reason I’m eager to offer you an office in our company.
The business of our company is to purchase and to sale mineral resources in Europe. From the moment of the establishing (Poland, 1998) our main occupation was coal trading, but further on we substantially broadened the sphere of our interests. We trade mostly in all kinds of the mineral resources being quarried both in Poland, and in other European countries. We render our service to companies as well as to individual investors.
We develop more actively each year and now we are entering the US market of mineral resources and forming the establishment.
Our employees are capable to select an adaptable working chart, and we also propose a lot of optional partial vacancies (from several hours a day up), and also for those who have no experience in this field, but sense how perspective this market in the US is and that it is not completely occupied yet.
Our employees are granted the best operating conditions (personal equipment for convenient communication and work - laptops and Blackberries/Apple iPhones/communicators), paid vacation and other bonuses. We grant the annual pay of $ and the annual pay of $ for MBA holders. The annual pay for holders of other certificates is also discussible. (The pay is given monthly, above the total annual salary is indicated). We are always eager to respond to any questions and consider the terms of collaboration. You can contact us any time it’s comfortable for you.
Please reply only to our personal e-mail: julia.k.nrinc@gmail.com
We impatiently wait for your reply.
Julia Knowles
Natural Resources Inc.
The first dead giveaway is the one common to almost all of these scams and it's the contact information. The "From" is a person by the name of Brenton Sanchez whose e-mail address is a meaningless sequence of letters and numbers ("aaa161") at a domain ("ac-hotels.com") that is totally unrelated to the business that is supposedly contacting you. It's also different than the name signed on the letter ("Julia Knowles"). And last, you're asked to reply to an address at a free mail service such as hotmail, Yahoo!, or gmail. Nowhere in this is there any contact information for the actual company offering you a job.
Second is that there's no actual description of the job duties. They want to offer you a wonderful job with high pay and lots of fringe benefits like a laptop and a Blackberry... doing what? Notice that they've actually offered you a job and they haven't said anything about your title or your duties?
Usually the job these scams offer fall into one of three categories:
- Cashing Checks: They need a "financial representative" in your country to cash checks from their clients in your country. Only problem is that the checks are forged. They're good enough for your bank to cash them for a customer, so you'll get the money, wire it off via Western Union to Eastern Europe, and a week later your bank is telling you the check was forged or bounced and they want their money back.
- Cashing Out PayPal Transactions: Basically the same thing as the check scam. They send you payments from hacked PayPal accounts. You cash them out, wire the money to Eastern Europe, then PayPal comes knocking, wanting their money back.
- Mail Forwarding: They use forged checks or hacked PayPal accounts to buy goods on e-commerce sites or auction sites. Since sellers are wary of sending anything to Africa or Eastern Europe, they have the sellers send the packages to you and then you send the packages to Africa or Eastern Europe. Then, when the payments turn up bogus, the police turn up at your door, looking for the merchandise.
One mistake they made in this one was they seem to have been in such a rush that they left out the actual amount they'll pay. Sometimes the crooks are smart and don't make it ridiculously high, but often they offer these outrageous amounts like $80-100 an hour for part time work. And recently, like this one, they've been stating the terms of the employment contract are negotiable. Basically they're promising you the moon and the stars for part time work. And as the old saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Last, they're going to offer me a job and they can't even address me by name?
I know you may be hurting. I know that this may seem like the answer to a prayer. It's not. You're being duped. Don't answer them and don't get caught up in their criminal enterprises.
Good luck to you all.

Thanks, Greg,
Thought I'd share one of the more recent ones received in my search for business funding.
It was received yesterday - from a fellow claiming to represent a Nigerian Bank, who (get this) is embarrased by the Nigerian scams floating around over the internet and so this bank has decided to make things "right" by giving $1,000,000 to each of 100 people who they believe may have been scam victims of the Nigerian scams.
All I have to do is provide all of my contact information, and he will immediately set about righting these previous wrongs done by their unscrupulous countrymen.
What a guy! Creative, but a scumbag nontheless.
Thanks Greg. I got the same text from: Tomas Coates
I was suspicious but hopeful nevertheless. I am glad I found your article while looking for that company. There should be a way to punish those people. . .
Julia Knowles also wrote to me. Why a government agency does not screen these crooks and arrest them? This is white collar crime and wastes number of productive hours of this country.
Thanks Greg. I got the similar text from: as below :
WorldWide work with the biggest European company. $125000 salaryFriday, October 3, 2008 10:37 AM
From: "Millard Stratton" Add sender to Contacts To: premkotagiri@yahoo.com
I was suspicious and glad that I found your article while looking for that company.
thanks a Lot
Raj,
A government agency can't screen these crooks unless you want the government screening your e-mail. And they can't do much about them even if they stopped more of their e-mails because they're in foreign countries where they're just not going to get a lot of cooperation.
They did catch one woman in Washington state who helped distribute the checks for one of these scam operations. She basically acted as the U.S.-based customer who was sending you the check to cash and pay your "employer" with. She got a few years in jail, but she was just a small cog in a big set of wheels.
Sadly, the government can't protect you from a lot of crime before it happens, and can only bring some criminals to justice after it happens. You have to be on your guard to make sure you don't get ripped off, because your first and best line of defense in stuff like this is your own bullsh*t detector.
Thanks for the tip. I did a search on the info I got from the email because I knew something was off right away.
Thanks so much for this. It seems like all I ever get in my inbox are scam 'job' offers. It's so bad that I google every so-called company and the names at the end of the e-mail. 100% of the time, they're not legit.
Hi all,
I actually got the same e-mail from Julia Knowles except for I got 2 the same day from two different people. I'm glad you actually did something to make us all aware.
Yep - I received this one today. I knew right away it was a scam, especially since it had a "contract" attached and the English is a bit off grammatically. Nice site - thanks for putting it up.
got the same bogus email
Hi All,
I too received the Julia Knowles email and responded. I now have a $125,000 job at Natural Resources! =)
Hi, people:
I've just received exactly the same scam e-mail, but now Julia's surname is Stevens. They sent me attached a contract, asking me to open a bank account with my name... ha,ha,ha
THey offer to pay me 4.000 $... good... but I live in Spain, can't they pay euros? ha,ha,ha...
oh yeah Amy? I responded too...but I told them I have an MBA (which I don't) and I have a $250,000 job at Natural Resources AND a new iPhone! =)
Plus, they gave me my own private jet to travel to Europe and "conduct business" with gasparo ramaswami who sent me the E-mail
What's the scam here, identity theft? What could happen if someone actually opened up a bank account for these people? Maybe Amy James could expound on this a bit!
This is the email I recieved today thanks for the heads up !!! Maybe I should reply with a Dr Degree of somesort n see if they give me 500k year !!!!

Thanks, Greg and all.
I, too, received this email. Being that I am in emergency, environmental and carbon coal industries, I almost got excited. It was sent from the webmaster at carbonair.com but everything about it was wrong, especially the salary which is a typical salary for carbon folks in the US but not for Europe. Thanks for saving me time, expense and disapointment.

I got the exact same email on the 10th, Chris. I always google businesses and even email addresses. The bad part is when you are looking for a job and you see the "New Mail" indicator only to find this junk. The term "letdown" doesn't quite cover it.
Good luck to all of us!
Got one from Abraham Bullock. These guys are good...but not that good.
I got on today addressed from - Heriberto Hampton at a hotmail address.
They stated that I can contact them by phone anytime , yet no number was given. I then checked Google for Natural Resources Inc. and found this site, confirming my suspicions.

I got this one today (11/28/08) from "Terrie Stuart" at a hotmail account.
i got the same letter. I got scammed a couple of years ago with a scammer like this. Thank God I realised in time. They even transferred $7000 into my new bank account which they stole from somebody elses. It was a nightmare!
Thanks for starting this up to avoid other innocent peeps from being scammed.
I recieved this today and googled and found your site - Thank you!!! I appreciate the heads up - it is depressing to just get spam from employment ads!
Here is the one we received:

Glad I found your website. Just got a job a few weeks ago, but had I received this scam sooner, I may have jumped on what sounded too good to be true. I got the same as Pam Ott: same respondent (Natalie Patton). Maybe they could just send the $125k?
Thanks for the info.
I started this job in October. I am making $9,000/month and have a dell laptop and blackberry. what a great opportunity!
FYI for everyone, I let Roc's comment post, but I do not vouch for his authenticity.
Thanks for the warning, thought it bizzar that a writer was being contacted for such a position. The by-product of a technological age. To you slim calling yourself(ves) Roc, Amy, and Brian, may you someday be consumed by the greed and disregard for decency that you clearly display.
@Kate: I think Amy and Brian were being sarcastic. Not sure about Roc.
Thanks for the warning. I received the same e-amil from Natalie Patton. I did reply to find more information and received an answer to my questions. Below is the reply...
"We found your resume at Career Builder. Our Poland number is +48 (22) 826 87 11.
Let me tell you about the offered activity a little.
Right now we are hiring representatives in the US, who will work with our customers on our behalf. Your job will be to process the information for our customers and to close the deal on trade market for them.
Our business is based on the operations with mineral resources. We purchase and sell certificates on coal, oil, natural gas and other resources. We began this business in 1998 in Poland and since that time we have considerably expanded our business by making contracts in all European countries. Now we are entering the USA mineral resources market and are in process of a new staff forming.
What are the usual duties of the employees?
For instance, the client wants to buy the certificate on the coal which is on sale in Poland. We shall give you the list of the official partners system for the coal purchase via Internet or at the office in your city.
We do not position the given vacancy as a full-time employment, the working schedule is flexible, the best way is to choose the most comfortable hours during a day to perform your duties. The majority of operations is carried out through Internet, in case of any questions we shall consult you by phone.
During the first 6 months you will work 4-5 hours a day. All actions will be stipulated together with the managers. So, you are not to search the clients or contact with them (the managers will do it for you).
You are not to analyze the mineral resources market, understand stock and quotations, our managers will do it all for you. Naturally there is no any necessity to pay for starting the work and to do any contributions.
We give the best working conditions for our employees. The company gives to them Apple iPhones/Blackberries/communicators (at their choice) and laptops MacBook Pro (or another laptop at the employee’s choice) to simplificate the communication proсess with our managers and carry out the operations with mineral resources.
Our employees get medical insurance and $125,000 annual salary. For those who have MBA degree it is $250,000.
We pay in each of the following money transfer systems - E-Gold, Western Union, MoneyGram, Credit Card, Bank wire transfer, etc.
Please, do not implicate our company with those that deal with checks cashing. Such companies are cheats. We never deal with checks.
We are seeking for partners who are seriously concerned with our business offer,so if you are ready to sign an agreement(attached),you we'll start work in about 1 ot 2 days after signing it.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them via email natalie.patton.nrinc@gmail.com (9 AM - 7 PM EST, Monday - Friday)
We are looking forward to hearing from you, Natalie Patton."

I am glad you published this page. I just started out in the world of Resume writing. I never even considered the scams were here too. Thanks
I received a similar job proposition for a Polish company wishing to trade mineralresources with US clients. My offer is identical to Ken Bartel's!! I requested a link to their website but was not provided one.
chris thanks i was excited to see it because i wanted a job but i thought it was rather vague in explaining exactly what u pointed out. i even attempt calling a number base on website that came up but it had too much numerals, the website fell short in emphasizing its global progress. i had ask my self the same question worst what job does not specify 1. YOUR NAME, 2. SECOND INTERVIEW ( cause most job online resume needs a second interview to get result.) 3. Address and telephone number 4. What you are being hire for 5. what to bring on the first day whether orientation, what to wear, codes of company, they were so many things i was curious about and i thank the lord i ran on your web site thanks Hun. NB, when a company wants you they contact you its not too for them to do or they leave a direct number for you to contact.
thanks
thank`s for opening to advice people
i got the same mail and i send the answer then i start finding their web site and got your site.
thank`s once again
I got this just now

I just got one of these this afternoon. To me, the best giveaways to any email scam are 1) horrendous spelling and/or grammar, and 2) sent from a free e-mail account. And, seriously, you're gonna pay me $125K and you don't even know my name...seriously suspect.
I just received the same letter
What a pain...
I just got it today too. Its from Natalie Patton.
These people who are sending these scam job offer email got nothing to do with their lives.. Luckily, we are too wise to believe in them..
Thank you for the nice info. I also received the same letter from MargeuAlessandromdf103@live.com
aka Natalie Patton.
Hi Greg,
Thanks for the info, I got excited when I read it. But of course, I need to confirm this company and when I tried to research at Goggle, I found out that there is no such name of company "Natural Resources, Inc. - Poland" and I found your comment on this Scam.
Thanks again for giving such information for everyone! God bless!

Same mail from patton I demanded their web site and corporate numbers all looked like a joke from beginning
Thanks, guys, i too got the same email today. Just wondered who this Natilie Patton is and maybe has her own website, but lol, I found that Natalie Patton is a popular porn name. Anyway, thank a lot.

Natural Resources Inc
patton.natalie.nrinc@gmail.com
The whole offer doesn't make sense really
jeez... i got the vary same email only this time from a different sender. i also replyed to it cos at first sight it looked very suspicious
• If your name is Natalie Patton, as written in the email I got why is the email from a "Sina Weemhoff" SinaeWeemhoffqou893@live.com
• As indicated in the email I was asked to call between the 8 and 18 hours, but no telephone number was indicated, and efforts made to find your company name with telephone number from the world wide web seemed futile.
Got the same email today.. thanks for this site and everyone is aware of this so-called "Natural Resources, Inc. - Poland" .. though the offer is too tempting, better to be aware, safe than sorry.. God bless!
Oh my God. I got the same mail from a Natalie Patton. All it took was to type her name and the name of the company "Natural Resources Inc." and poof, this site showed up.
Natural Resources Inc. does not appear in the first page of Google, nor does it appear when you type Poland along with the name of the company to think that their central office is in Poland as what the e-mail claims to be.
Such a waste of my precious time, to think that I was excited to work in the US to join my US based boyfriend. I freaking hate this e-mail!
Natalie Patton wrote me, too! I was thrilled to hear from her because I misread the name as Natalie Portman! If Natalie Portman wants to offer me a job, I'll gladly cash checks for her.
hi..i received the same message from Natalie Patton. The first reaction was "this is too good to be true". So what i did was checked out the name @google then to my surprise it's a scam. Thanks for the information. It's really helpful. I hope no Filipino's will be a victim of this scam. Or nobody will be a victim of such. God Bless You All.
Hi,
Thanks for your kind heart in explaining this scam. I myself received same mail from Ms.Patton I guess not her true name, but one thing that I am sure of is that they already have cancer... they a are cancer of the society, why they have to find decent work and not the expense of others. All I can say God Bless their soul
Thanks for the info, anyway it's just a warning for everyone. if there's a money involved in a Job offer, you will think it's a scam. Don't entertain any mails which is asking for money or asking to open bank accounts for them. Be wise all the time...
Hi guys! Just wanna make a follow up on the letter.. I tried to reply to the first email sent and asked for a job description etc. See Natalie's reply below:

Right from the start the way the invitation was written, I realized it was a "fake". I've been recieving different kinds of job offers in my mails who basically were obvious scams... Thanks for the heads-up.. For others, careful!
Impressive these guys but so dull.I got the Natalie Patton email promising me heaven on earth.Im not impressed, we have seen it all happening before. They are now targeting Africa because of the high unemployment levels and low per capita incomes.I told them to keep their job, Im more than satisfied. How do we deal with such people?
Of late I was involved in coal mining research in southern Africa and I thought it was one of the people whom I had made contact with during my research. These people need to be stopped, the english is so broken, even THE QUEEN would be so shocked.
hTanks Greg...I too received this email from a Julia (different last name) and could tell it was a scam right away. However, I wrote back to ask more information and this is what they sent (along with a contract for me to sign - they require you to have a bank account just for them). I was one of the unfortunate idiots who got scammed by the whole Nigerian scam a few yeras ago and am still paying for it! I lost my house and everything! so.....PEOPLE......wake up and don't make the same mistake........
Let me tell you about the offered activity a little.
Right now we are hiring representatives in the US, who will work with our customers on our behalf. Your job will be to process the information for our customers and to close the deal on trade market for them. There is no need in special degree or experience, because for the first six months you will be on training from our coordinators, during that time you will be receiving base salary of 125K/Year, after you will be done with the training you will have enough experience to perform this job by yourself and will be receiving base salary plus quarter award(refer to our employment agreement paragraph 5.2).
The company gives to them Apple iPhones/Blackberries/communicators (at their choice) and laptops MacBook Pro (or another laptop at the employee’s choice) to simplificate the communication proñess with our managers and carry out the operations with mineral resources.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them via email jul.caldwell.nrinc@gmail.com (9 AM - 7 PM EST, Monday - Friday)
We are looking forward to hear from you, Julia Caldwell.
--Best regards,
Julia Caldwell

NR Inc.
On December 8, 2008, I too recieved a letter of this kind. The email was from: "ojjeHannaMorgan" <guerreropeterisbjo@gmail.com; What inspired me to open it was the title: We find, (that is how is was typed instead of, found.), your I.D#**** - resume on Career Builder. When I opened the email it read:
Hi
Your I Dno. *&^@*resume was found on one of the job sites. We examined your candidacy and want to offer you a position in our company. If your I.D.NR. ( * ? & -resume changed, please send us an updated version to email, indicated at the end of the message.
(Notice the Resume I.D.numbers never matched. That alone should have been a flag to stop me.)
IT CONTINUED SAYING; "I am a HR manager in the company Natural Resources INC."
The rest of my letter read pretty-much like all the previous offers listed above. Yet, on the bottom of the letter it was signed: julia.c.nrinc@gmail.com. Not Hanna Morgan, now that i think about it; the porn star!
On 12-9-2008, I recieved an email form one "Julia Caldwell" . This letter was recieved after asking about the salary, pay period and transaction methods. (I wanted to know how soon &/or how often I was to get paid, But, never recieved an answer.) This letter just elaborated on some of the details about the business.
Yep; you guessed it, I sent in the contract!
On December 10, the name changed to: "Natalie Jones" . She said; "I'm your new manager and I'll be working with you. I hope you remember you signed the contract with our company (Employee of operations with naturial resources with $125,000 (or $250,000 for MBA) salary)." She further stated in this letter, "I tried to reach you several time using these numbers: but there was no answer." (I had listed both my cellphone # and my home phone # on the contract.)
After several email attempts to get answers on purtinent deatailed information, I gave her a peice of her own contract stating, "The Employee has the right, if necessary, to get aquainted with the rules of the "Enterprise" internal labor order, collective agreement, and labor legislation. (Part 3. General provisions of the Agreement para. 3.8.). I need some answers. (In the contract the company's know name changes; Natural Resources Enterprise will be referred to as; <> and my name hereinafter referred to as <>.) (This should have been my second FLAG) I had made several contact attempts back and forth to them by email to ask about the unanswered questions. To my surprise, I recieved a phone call today; (12-11), from the manager who called herself "Natalie Jones." She assured me that the job and offer was lagitimate and convinced me to open a seperate checking account "tommorrow." Thank GOD I found this site. And thank GOD I never released my S.S.# or any other information. I just wish I had thought about looking here in the first place.
Like a dummy, I read the contract and sent it. What ails me is, I did release my address and 2-phone numbers along with a 2-relatives and 2-freinds phone numbers as required on the contract to be hired. Being without a job so long, I got disillusioned and in a hurray. I reacted upon impulse thinking my ship had come in. Normally I read information more carefully and research perspective businesses background history before I answer. I guess the truth holds; "Desperate people do desperate thing!"
I never wanted to believe it to be a scam. Next time I will listen to my wife.
My only thought is; What's going to happen when I quit responding to these people? Is a SCAM CONTRACT LEGAL??? LOL or Not?
Also I recieved one from a "Filip Lindburg" Headquarters Switzerland on December 9, 2008. Almost the same m.o. yet, somewhat different. The offer was not stating any payscale or precisely what you'd be doing. The RE: read, Hello, we are very much intersted in your candidature. Please take a look about our opportunity. All I did was sent back an email saying, Who are you? What company do you represent and how did you get my email address. I never herd back from, "Fillip."
I got the same email too from Natalie Patton, well, honestly, I replied to her email and made some queries but in the back of my mind I really doubted it. For these reasons:
1. The letter was in a spam folder.
2. They offered those jobs that will surely make you amaze and believe because of the sweet and inviting offers without providing any reliable and genuine information such as their websites and company profile.
3. They just select people or whatever applicants all over the world and offered them jobs through the internet without even reviewing or confirming a person's infos and datas.
4. You can feel it by yourself that it is just a scam because you are intelligent and wise enough not to be a victim of these desperate scammers.
Well, they play games like these... so why don't play them too and teach them a lesson?
Make them believe that you are interested with the jobs and make hopes for them... hahahahaha!!!!!!
