Director positioning two actors for a love sceneOkay, now that we're 16 chapters in, there are some supporting characters with significant roles yet to be introduced, but we've got our top-billed stars pretty well introduced... Kurt, Alain, George, Vinnie, and Marie (she'll be back).

I don't know about you, but I've got some ideas of who I'd cast for those roles, both in terms of current actors who are the right age, and maybe some older actors. I'd like to see whether you guys are seeing the same actors in the roles, if you're seeing totally different actors, and whether you're all thinking along the same lines or whether you're all just off on totally separate tangents.

I don't want to shape your thoughts, so I'm gonna wait until chapter 19 drops to reveal my dream cast. I'm going to get the ball rolling, though, with a picture of a guy who's now too old to play Vinnie, but this photo just screams Vinnie at me every time I see it...

Because I have not licensed the photo, here's a link to it in the IMDb photo library.

Please post your casting ideas as comments below. Thanks!

And no, the movie rights haven't been optioned. This is just wishful imagining.

Kiefer Sutherland for Alain. I may be way off your description, but that's who I picture. Just because he goes for the anti-villain roles (misunderstood hero?) all the time. Shia Laboufe for Kurt, definitely. No hesitations there; he's got the slightly goofy, ballsy, vulnerable yet resourceful thing down cold. Nicholas Cage for Vinnie, or possibly Gabriel Grey (Sylar from Heroes), to go a completely different direction. If it's Grey we'd have to age him a bit. Both are slow with the syllables and fast with the violence. Got nuthin' for the other two characters, sorry.

@Parahacker: You wouldn't have to age Zachary Quinto (Sylar) for Vinnie. Like I said, Stephen Baldwin is now too old for Vinnie. Both Vinnie and Alain were young men when turned and haven't aged much due to being vampires. Aside from that, interesting choices. Thanks for posting.

BTW, is anyone else stoked that "Heroes" is coming back next week?

Anybody except Keanu Reeves or Tom Cruise! LOL! Main actors would be a tough one…hmm - Tobey Maguire as Kurt? Edward Norton or maybe Wesley Snipes as Vinnie? I could see supporting actors Christopher Lee (as nod to vamp B movies of past) and Christopher Watkins in a cameo perhaps (the boat dude?).

Here are my picks. It's not too late to post yours.

Vinnie: Michael Fishman. Yeah, I know it's D.J. from "Roseanne", but I saw a picture of him all grown up on his IMDb bio and I saw Vinnie. He's older than Vinnie is in the story, but lots of actors play characters that are older or younger than they are, taller or shorter than they are... You have to have some wiggle room when casting.

Alain: Jake Gyllenhaal. When I saw that he was within the acceptable age and height ranges I'd set up, I just thought there wasn't anyone better for the role.

Kurt: Patrick Flueger. If you were a fan of "The 4400" then you know Patrick as Sean Farrell. I was borderline about him for a while, but when I imagined him into a few of Kurt's scenes, he fit.

George: Chris Evans, a.k.a. Johnny Storm from the "Fantastic Four" movies. I just get a George vibe from him.

Marie: Sophia Bush. I actually went through a bunch of actress photos on IMDb to find an actress that looks like what Marie looked like in my mind's eye when I was writing her. Sophia fits the bill.

Michael Fisham is the PERFECT Vinnie! I never would have thought of him, but after seeing his picture on IMDB, he's the only one I'll be able to "see" every time Vinnie makes an appearance in the storyl
