A friend of mine shared this video via facebook and it... well, it was one of those things that is "funny because it's true." At the same time, anyone who has been a vendor or independent contractor has probably had a client try to pull this kind of stuff on them. You will probably laugh. You might get angry. You might curl up in a ball and start smacking yourself on the side of the head. Just be warned.

An additional bit of humor, I was going through the Akismet spam logs (spammy comments, spammy link-backs) and found a splog at post-traumatic-stress-syndrome.info linking back to this post. It's just one of those unintentional bits of funny, but I can see clients like this causing PTSD.

    Nice!!!

I laughed my ass off. When I worked as a freelance coder I bump into this kind of sh!t all the time.

This was a very creative, well-done way to address something that I've certainly never had done to me, but I've seen people try to do. Thanks for sharing it!

Never been a contractor or vendor. But I've worked in retail. This made me laugh until I got tired of hearing the people. Then I turned it off!

Ah... being able to shut it off was soo nice.

Every so often I do run into customers who want to know if something can be discounted because it's damaged. Some places can't sell the merchandise, others can. Where I work now they will, but only a manager can make such a deal. NOT ME! I have no such authority.

So I find myself, with a polite friendliness, telling the customer I don't have the authority to discount the item, they have to go to the customer service and ask for the manager. Or I can call the manager on my walkie to meet with them. Find myself saying this ten times over sometimes.

And some folks think it's bad that I say I have no problem faking politeness. I fake politeness at my work all the time! I'm sure the manager doesn't want me to say "Argh! You stupid excuse for a human! Are you that stupid that you can't understand me!"

I will say that I cut foreigners a bit more slack. English is a screwy language, and if they have trouble understanding, it maybe that a language thing.
