Job Scam: Editing or Proofreading

While the translator/editor scam is not nearly as common as the check-cashing and package forwarding scams, it can often turn into the check cashing scam, as well as potentially end up in identity theft and more.
I've received a VERY similar letter to this for the Dating Euro Union, promising about $1,000 a month for correcting around 5k of text a day. You can read the experiences of people who answered them. Some detailed stories start around comment #27.
The fact that the offer is unsolicited and they're in Russia (the reply address with the .ru extension) should make you cautious. The fact that they don't even tell you the name of their company should make you cautious. The fact that they don't address you by name should make you cautious. The fact they're sending the mail from hotmail.com (i.e. free webmail service) and asking you to reply to an entirely different address at another domain, should make you cautious.
I know how hard it is out there. I'm job-hunting too. But it's hard times when the pickings are the most ripe for these scumbags because they prey on desperation. Don't be so desperate (or greedy) you throw caution to the wind.
Be careful out there.

Yesterday I received three emails about editing at home from three hotmail addresses. At the bottom these were said to be from the Worldwide Wedding Agency (which I could not find).
Not coincidentally the same day I had sent in some editing text to a company that I am sure is legit. Looks like somebody was able to see that I had just done some editing. I have security work to do!
I just recieved the same email from Worldwide Wedding Agency. I replied, and on Thursday, 11/05, I was email with attached text, to edit, and send back. I did find their website, but it was all in Russian. Are these guys for real, or am I just waisting my time again? You mentioned you performed editing, for a company that is legit? Can you give me contact information about them, I am looking for legit, online employment.

I received the same email from Daniel Branch ( Worldwide Wedding Agency http://www.wedding.ru) to edit files. After editing 4 files I was told text editing is on hold for next 2 months but they have other vacancies that will be followed by Cheryl Rogers . This is what the email says:
Well, but as we wrote earlier now texts have ended. New will be approximately month through two.
Your payment for texts will be approximately in 2 weeks.
New vacancy will not occupy a lot of time from you. You will receive 1-3 transfers in a week. All that you should descend it in bank to receive money and to send through Western Union and regularly to check yours online the account.
As you remember can open the new bank account and you should not worry that at you from the account money will be gone.
If will change the mind write to us and we will explain all in more details, we can call you and answer questions interesting you.

i asked the "worldwide wedding agency" for a link to the company website and got this response:

Payment is made in a month after the work beginning. We do payment from Western Union or Money Gram.As at sending the commission nearby 30$ undertakes and it is not favourable to us to pay after each text. "
my suspicion is that this is an identity theft type of scam. beware.

And if you check out the domain name registration record on globex-ag.com, it was created on Tuesday of last week. It's barely 5 days old.
I was just offered the same job as Terri, Customer Service Agent for Globex Trading Company from non other than Sara Thiemann. Interesting that the e-mail says to reply to sara.thiemann@globex-ag.com but the e-mail was sent from Cesaire Kudo cesairekudo0256@hotmail.com. Of course all major companies use Hotmail e-mail addresses. LOL

I just received the exact email that Greg Bulmash got. You can always tell that it's a scam by who they say they are. Generally Chiefs don't go around taking their expensive time and wasting it on sending innocuous emails. Thanks for posting your email Greg and let's all continue to be vigilant against the score of scumbags that are out their trying to defraud the innocent.

I received the "Worldwide Wedding Agency" ad and went thru editing 5 texts for a total of $140. Short and easy and I was curious how this would turn out. After 5 were editied they said editing was suspended but I could be an agent and receive money in my bank account from their clients and then transfer the amount minus 5% for myself to them. They said that I could open up a new account and give them all access information so that they could monitor their clients deposits and such. Wow! I responded that as soon as I received my $140, I would consider doing business with them in the future, but the payment to me would be a good faith move on their part. They have sent me the same email over again asking me to open the account and when the first deposit is made from their client, I should transfer the money to them minus the $140 and keep 5% for myself. I turned around and told them that I wanted the $140 before anything else. I have heard nothing further from them. Should the FBI get involved in this? HA! I sent them an email indicating I have some friends I'd like them to meet in Switzerland and I never received any reply.
