Just got this job scam slipping through my spam filters. I'll post the e-mail, then discuss why it's a scam afterward.

The first red flag, and this happens in almost every job scam I get, is the address and ID of the person sending the message is different than the address and name of the person you're asked to reply to. This is a typical spammer trick, sending the mails from a bunch of different addresses (sometimes completely fake, sometimes hijacked through hacking or malware) to make them harder to filter and trace. On top of that, the address you're supposed to reply to is a free mail service like gmail, yahoo, live.com, or hotmail.com. This is not a guarantee, by itself, that it's a scam, but it's definitely enough to put you on alert that it could be.
The second red flag is "payment processing." This job title, along with ones like "financial manager" or "financial representative," are HUGE red flags that this is most likely a check fraud scam. They recruit you to process payments from their customers in your country, then have you cash checks or cash out PayPal payments and wire the money to them in another country. The only problem is that the checks are forged or the PayPal payments are coming from hacked accounts. The check/payment seems legitimate and you're able to get cash. But then the person who owns the account the check/payment was drawn against notices and files a fraud complaint. Guess who is expected to pay back the money? You are. And you're probably going to have to do some explaining to the police as well.
Another red flag is to look for little things that are wrong. Sometimes it's really bad grammar. Sometimes it's really obvious typos. For some reason, these crooks are too lazy to proofread, so you find errors like them misspelling their own company name in the signature: "TransBrigde Inc. [sic]".
Last, there's the warning my old pappy gave me when I first started job hunting and had to sort the wheat from the chaff in the Help Wanted classifieds (yeah, I'm old enough to remember when we still used the newspaper for job hunting): "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is."
Sorry to burst your bubble if you were hoping this was a real opportunity. I'm hurting too and know how you feel. But don't let wishful thinking blind you to solid warning signs. Trans Bridge is a scam. You'll end up poorer and in trouble while making some foreign criminals richer. Take my advice and don't even respond to them. You'll be happier in the long run.

Funny, as my wife and I just recieved this email today, and I was looking into the company itself. The company (when spelled right) is a real company in New Jersey, but thier corespondence with me is that it is a scam as well. As a systems administrator and an owner of a consulting business, I see these requests all the time, esspecially in our spam filter at work. Sometimes they can be really tricky, but you have laid out pretty decent guidelines that I hope others read as well. It is unfortunate though that many people do not notice the from address and the to address difference or even fathom that it is a scam. Thank you for posting this, hopefully it will help others beware as well. FYI... my email was exactly the same as yours... with header information with an origination of not of gmail more of "blackhole."

I just got this email today. And in the past I have receive a few another red flag is when they want your bank account information. Think about it they're asking you to transfer funds and crap from your account to another. They should have a legit FDIC assured account ready and available for their employees. I'm amazed how they get through the SPAM filter. I would also like to thank Greg Bulmash for spelling out all of the red flags in this one. Be safe ya'll!

They're showing pictures of money in hand but in small print one company said they are not a lender or broker then how can they distribute money to your account????
Lending Tree, a well known and reputable service also disclaims it's neither a lender or a broker. It's a "lead generator" or "lead prospector." They do lots of advertising to find people who need loans, gather some qualifying information ("qualifying a lead" is determining if they meet a minimum criteria and then placing them into certain categories if they do), and then sell your information to one or more lenders or brokers who are willing to buy leads in the category you fit. The lenders either pay them a fee for the lead or pay them a commission when you take out a loan.
One thing to look at is the terms of the loan. Gary Coleman was shilling for a loan service where the interest rate was 99.25%. They'll basically give a loan to anyone at that rate because even if 4 out of 10 people defaulted and never paid back a cent, they'd still make a profit. Others don't offer an interest rate at all, they get around interest rate laws in many states by charging a service fee for the loan, and then service fees every 30-45 days if you haven't paid the loan back yet. Generally, the service fee is 6-7% of the loan amount, and since you pay it every month or month and a half, you're paying between 48% and 84% of the loan amount annually in fees.

I received this email as well in my college email account! It had very small variations but it was practically the same thing. I was investigating the company (mostly to report it since I figured it was a fraud) and came across yoru blog post. Thank you for sharing those details that can give away these frauds. Sometimes companies exist but people use their name to trick you; I once got a similar job offering from a British children clothing company. There had been certain mistakes, as misspellings and a different address. I contacted the company and reported the scam.
And how come email spam protection isn't enough? I can't believe how many times I've considered those messages spam and they keep coming from different addresses and such. Again, thanks for opening up a venue of conversation about this topic.

But now that I have read this blog...I'm thinking it's sounds a little too much like the TransBridge scam. I've filed a complaint with the FBI on their website to see if this is a scam. One of the questions they asked was for the IP address...which I didn't know it at the time, nor how to get it (since I'm not that tech savvy)...but I found a website http://cqcounter.com/whois and entered the website address and the IP address came back as 64.34.175.158 (Herndon, VA 20171)...The email said they were in Spain. I don't know about IP addresses but if the IP address is supposed to match the location of the business, then I believe I've been scammed. They said I should receive checks in the next couple of days so now I'm really worried. Am waiting to hear back from the FBI to find out if it's legit or not.

Good job on doing your own follow-up research, but you went off in a wrong direction there.
The IP doesn't have to match the company location. That IP from the WhoIs relates to their web server, not them. I'm in Washington state, but if you look up the IP address of this site, it's at a datacenter in Texas. Why? Because providing the data lines, power back-ups, etc. that you need for a reliable web server is expensive. That's why most companies co-locate their servers in large datacenters, because all those expenses can be pooled and split.
The company I chose to lease my server from has a datacenter in Texas. Since I'm never going to need or use physical access to my server, I don't need it to be anywhere close to me.
That said, if you look at the domain registration data for completweb-studio.com, you'll see it has a "creation date" of August 22, 2009. However long this company's been in business, they've owned this domain name for less than a week. Furthermore, you'll see it's registered not to someone in Spain, but in North Carolina, yet the domestic fax number they give you is in the 920 area code... Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There are all sorts of red flags there, but unfortunately, the location of the IP address isn't one of them.

I got the exact same ones as above listed, the Condor Business INC, just with a different name and different email address.
At first I thought "what the...?" because I knew that businesses cannot get your email information unless you have published it on a job seeker website, then I decided to google the business and came up with nothing except this website.
Good on you guys for making them show their true scamming colours!

THE MONTHLY SALARY AN ADMINISTRATIVE AGENT EARNS:
The salary of an Administrative Agent is calculated as a percentage (5% during the trial period) of each payment managed by him.

* After the TRIAL PERIOD, your wage will include a basic salary
of 1,350 GBP/2,450 USD, plus your commission as in the TRIAL PERIOD.
The list below outlines what you will do for our Company:
Our company connects the SELLER and the BUYER, while they operate with reputable Online Auctions.
The BUYER will send payment for an item to you, the ADMINISTRATIVE AGENT.
The payment could be by:
* Automatic Clearing House (ACH)(for U.S.A.)
* Wire Transfer directly into your bank account
* Check to your home address
5% from this amount is kept by you, and the rest should be forwarded to the SELLER.
For this purpose you should withdraw the entire transferred amount, deduct your percentage, and forward the rest of the sum via Western Union money transferring system to the SELLER.
Fees paid for Western Union service should be taken from the 95% remainder.
You do not have to pay anything!
Working with us you will have to manage a few transactions weekly, with each transaction varying between 1,000-5,000 GBP/1,000-10,000 USD.
You must mail to me personally the outcome of your transactions, on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
If you have any problems during forwarding procedure, please contact your Manager, and not the BUYER, nor the SELLER.
N.B.
All transfers should be forwarded to the SELLER on the same day as when payment entered and cleared into your bank account, or at least the next business day.
So, here is a summary of the ADMINISTRATIVE AGENT’S work, in plain English:
* Our Company works as intermediary between BUYERS and SELLERS on almost all major Online Auctions.
* You will be collecting all Payments from the BUYERS in your sales area and forward it to the SELLER, wherever he resides.
The usual questions at this stage are:
* “Why do you need some one to act as a ‘middleman’?”
* “Why don’t you use PAYPAL, as in other auctions, or your own business account in our country?”
* “Why do I have to use my personal bank account?”
The simple answer is that at nowadays there are too many fraudulent transactions via PAYPAL:
PAYPAL is no longer secure. We cannot risk our clients’ monies by asking them to use PAYPAL.
That is why we only use direct bank transfers or cashier checks.
The second reason is that we work worldwide, and sometimes our SELLERS don’t even have a bank account, but they do have a good items to be sold at U.S.A./U.K. auctions. (Usually they are SELLERS from ex-U.S.S.R. countries.) That’s why we are asking you to forward funds to them by Western Union.
For an ordinary citizen it is much easier to send a domestic bank transfer or check inside the country, for an item which has been purchased, rather than using international bank transfer, or even Western Union transfer abroad.
So, here is what you have to do in a post of an Administrative Agent:
* You will be keeping 5% for yourself from each transfer accepted and forwarded to the SELLER.
(To forward the transfer you have to actually go to your branch; withdraw the whole amount of the transfer (or 95%)).
* Then you have to forward it to the SELLER using your local Western Union Office.
* You will extract all Western Union fees from the seller's part of the transfer (from the 95% of the transferred to your amount)
Each transfer will be from 1,000 – 5,000 GBP (1,000 - 10,000 USD), and you will have a number of transfers per week.
* You will be sending daily, weekly and monthly reports directly to me.
* You must not contact any BUYER or SELLER during the TRIAL PERIOD.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
You must forward the funds on the same day as it has been entered and cleared into your bank account, or the next business day after.
WE HAVE ONE MORE OPTION OF WORKING WITH OUR COMPANY
You’ll have to receive the packages to your mail and ship them out abroad to the destination point. All that you will have to do is to receive the packages to your mail, that will be delivered to your address periodically, and take them to the US postal offices. CONFIDENTIALITY
a. Employee agrees that all knowledge and information that employee may receive from Company relating to inventions, products, processes, machinery, apparatus, prices, discounts, costs, business affairs, future plans, or technical data that belong to Company or to those with whom Company has contracted regarding such information, and;
b. All information provided by employee to Company in reports of work done, together with any other information acquired or gained by employee or by employee-supplied workers, shall for all time and for all purposes be regarded by employee as strictly confidential and held by employee in confidence, and solely for Company’s benefit and use, and shall not be used by employee or directly or indirectly disclosed by employee to any person whatsoever excepting to Company or with Company’s written permission.
DURATION AND TERMINATION

ii.
