New Job Scam: Guardian Consulting

It's remarkable how much effort they put into this, even sending a multi-page "contract" attached with the e-mail, yet let little things show through that show this is a scam. Here's the e-mail:
Hello, you have received this message because you have published your CV at one of the job searching web site and you meet our criteria.Our company (Guardian Consulting) emerged in 1992 as a result of partnership of German entrepreneurs, striving for development, and a group of experts in the field of classical and investment consulting. Currently the company has a gained a unique reputation in the Germany as a consummate consulting professional and the owner of real estate of high commercial value.
We provide the best working conditions for our employees: iPhone or BlackBerry (upon employee's choice) as a gift for easy communication with our managers, as well as a laptop for exchange operations. We also provide medical insurance and an annual salary of $165,000 and $225,000 of MBA degree holders. The salary is paid monthly.
You can read further about job details in a copy of contract, which is attached to this email. If you agree to the terms of the contract, send it to us via email which is shown below. The contract is rather flexible so if you wish to alter some clause, we are open for a discussion.

Okay, they're going to pay me $165,000 - $225,000 a year for a job that "will not take a lot of your time," without an interview, and they're totally open to me modifying the employment contract. These are HUGE red flags. As the old saying goes: "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is."
Additionally, though the company has been around since 1992 they provide no web site address. Furthermore, Miss Eva's using a free e-mail account at Google, and the sender of the e-mail is "Antonio O'Neal" with an address at commerceone.com which actually resolves to perfect.com and makes no mention of Guardian Consulting at the site. More big red flags. They're so big and reputable, but they don't have their own domain for sending or receiving e-mail?
On top of this, if you look in the e-mail headers you see:
softfail (google.com: domain of transitioning ten.marquard@commerceone.com does not designate 60.22.11.188 as permitted sender) client-ip=60.22.11.188;
Commerceone.com says the IP address (network location) Antonio O'Neal used is unknown to it and not permitted to use its mail servers. He's faked the address and is not sending the mail from a computer/location that is known of or approved by the company he's claiming to have sent it from.
Now, if you double-clicked the zip attachment or opened its contents without properly virus-checking and sandboxing them to make sure they couldn't infect your system, slap yourself. NEVER EVER open attachments from people you don't know until you've done everything you can to protect your system from being damaged by them. If you aren't experienced in protecting your system, then just don't open them.
I didn't find a virus (not saying that means there wasn't one), and there was a contract in Microsoft Word format. And inside the contract is the unmistakeable kicker on it being a big honking scam.
b) open separate bank account for exchange operations and provide the COMPANY with on-line access for exercising total control of the Employee's actions. If desired by the Employeehe may use his personal bank account, but shall also provide the COMPANY with on-line access to it.
You must open a bank account and then provide them with online access to it. If you want, you can use your own, but you have to provide them with online access to it. Let me repeat that... you have to give them online access to a bank account you open. Complete strangers send you a job offer, promising obscene amounts of money for work that won't take a lot of time, and all you have to do is give them online access to your bank account. Is any of this sounding fishy to you yet?

This must be a new one highway-groupmain.cn seemed very legit from the e-mail and web-site, however, after reading these comments and doing a little homework I think its a scam, thank you for all of your replies.
I got the exact same thing. After reading all the other messages it seems the other thing that changes is the Founder of the company. Same picture and profile just a different name.
I checked out the address on google maps, it comes back to an OBGYN Doctor. Guys I feel the same way but I wonder if it could be more than we think. After speaking with a friend who is a VP of my bank she told me it's possible it could be terroist.
Mine was the bfs-groupinc.cc/e/index.php?page=r_4 I checked out another on that was located in Rochester NY on the 3rd floor. After google mapping the address it's only a one level building. Where the heck is the 3rd floor. I feel there's more going on here than we can really understand. There's just too much too many too fast
I also received the Flar Group email saying the received my email from Career Builder. In one part of the email they refer to themselves as "Flar Group Company" and in another part as "Flar Group Inc" which tipped me off. They're offer was between $2500 and $4500/month and the initial email did not ask for a bank account. I could not find a website. I will not be responding.

I received the Flar Group Inc. job offer and googled the company. And to no surprise the company does not exist!
May 29, 09 I also rec. email from Ronald Bark, Flar Group Inc. Same story of setting up a bank acc't. to receive funds & pass on to 'some unknown client' thru West. Union. I checked as far as I could. Bark has a phone # 1-702-508-4241 (checking showes it's out in a small desert area in NV. Their web site is http://www.flar-groupmain.cn it gives their address as 4555 Las Vegas Blvd. N, Las Vegas, NV 89115; phone # is not listed, address shows 2 other tennets but no Flar Group. Treir email add. is registered in **get this** (Islamic Republic Of Iran); their web site add. is registered in (Ukraine - Plitchnik Lux Ltd.) Need I say more; I stoped searching when I found this data. It's not easy but when you are looking for a job it is something we all must do to protect ourselves. It shour looks like a scam.

The one I got was slightly different... but get this, I responded and got an e-mail back (see second letter below) and his first and last names were switched. Curious, isn't it? It also included a New York phone number. Also... check out the link. It's safe to click. It's an entire phony website set up just to support the scam. The .cc address is interesting... my research led me to the possibility that it is used by "The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus." The language is very strange for what is supposed to be an American company don't you think?!
Let's just say it's not a scam, though... Even still, who would take a job where your transferring money from/to international locations? I'd feel like I was working for a money laundering scheme if nothing else. Very interesting the whole thing...

I got a similar one, except it was from a guy who called himself John Wagner and it was for a company called Huge Group. They have a very sophisticated website in 4 languages (english, german, danish and bulgarian). They contacted me after I posted my resume on careerbuilders.com. After reading the supposed job description on their website, the first thing that came to my mind was money-laundering operation. To me they seem like the types of people who will bust your knee-caps if you don't play ball with them. I urge everyone to stay far far away from getting involved with these people.

Here is an excerpt from the job description for their "Financial Manager":
When funds enter employee's bank account, Financial Agent's duty is to
withdraw cash and transfer the funds via International Wire Transfer or
Western Union/Money Gram money transfer systems. The main advantage of our
services is the shortest possible time within which the seller can receive
money for the services/goods sold. If this operation is delayed, our
clients are entitled to cancel their contract with us and we suffer
financial loss. Therefore, successful applicant must be very responsible
and careful!
Since business transfers can be processed with delays, Financial
Manager should specify each transfer as a private remittance. This
provision is also applicable in case of a third party interest in the
transfer.
All the fees (WU/MG) are paid from employee's commission. HOWEVER,
our company undertakes to reimburse part of expenses which are incurred in
connection with money transfer (WIRE or by Western Union/Money gram
system) should money transfer charges exceed 3%. All in all, your net
profit will amount to 5-8% of the total amount of each payment processing

fee exceeds 3%, the difference will be compensated by the Company and

What will happen if I fail to send the money within one business day?
This is one of the most important questions. Should Agent fail to fulfill
his/her assignment to transfer money on time, this will entail certain
losses for our company and subsequently refelct on the revenue we receive.
Under these circumstances we will bill the Agent with the amount, which
will be enough to cover the company's damage. This compensation might
amount up to 70% of the transfer amount. However, we understand that
certain circumstances might prevent Agent from sending money in time. In
such a case Agent sends us a relevant notification note. This situation
does not involve any fines for Agent, provided this happens not more than
once and the reason is serious enough. Should similar delay happen again,
we will have no choice but charge for the damage caused.

My husband has been unemployed and looking for work with Careerbuilder.com. He received the same kind of offer but with a company called CASE Group, Inc. Can't find anything on them and they offer all the same benefits that others have stated. I also noted all the mistakes in the wording on their website and also called the number they offered and got the voicemail of a foreign women.
I believe this is money laundering of some nature and if something illegal would come of it the responsible person would be you due to the fact that large sums of money is traced to your bank account going in and out.
It is terrible that these companies are preying on people just trying to find work!

I got the same scam directed toward me. Alex Parker from Assurity Group saw my resume on Yahoo Hot Jobs and wanted me to be a financial mgr. The same terms, numbers and terms of employment were extended. Investigating some of the reported "partners" I came across the name of Liso Consulting that operates in South Africa. This would explain the late hour of their emails as well as their bad english. It would also explain the woman on the phone. By the way - Assurity Group's address is 757 third Ave, Woodside NY. Nice address wrong borough!!
I received the same email from Alex Parker. I even talked with her and another financial agent. Both worked for the company a year and both sound fishy.
I received an email like the above situations, but mine was from the Potential Group. However, the web address in the response message was from a firm called "Company". What a fraud! The initial email to my attention follows.

My letter was from a Brenda Jefferson working for Vision Group Inc. I went to their website and it does have a legit look to it. They even have awards posted so you can view them. I did some further investigating and found that the awards were actual, but this Vision Group did not win them. They just stole the picture and put their name on it.
Quite often, your best bet with legit-looking web sites is to simply do a whois search on them. You can do them at any major registrar or whois.net. When you get the domain's whois record, look at the "creation date" of the record, which will show when the domain was registered. For scam sites, the creation date is usually just a few days or a few weeks ago.
I recieved an offer from another company along the same lines as this. The company name is Vision Group Inc. and one of their certificates showed the name lidos consulting, so i think it is the same scam. If anyone else has heard anything about this company beware.
I have also received two such emails. The most recent being from the newer "Vision Group" company. I've indicated that I have an interest in order to see what they ask for next. The website is actually pretty well put together and they directly target the immediate concerns anyone would have after receiving one of their emails. Really, the worst part of scams like these is how in depth they are becoming and how they have been growing in sophistication as more and more people learn how to spot (and avoid) them.
Let us know what you find. I have been looking into this same co. I checked out the "whois.net" and found that had been created since 2004 and last changed in 3/2009.

I got the exact same email from Gina Parker. She wasted my time by telling me what a great company she works for, blah, blah, blah. Upon recieving an offer for a position she made the mistake of throwing in the job requirements as well as the benefits.
If you're going to say that you are a publicly traded company and that you offer stock options, make sure the company you say you work for is actually the name of a publicly traded company. What really threw up the red flag was one of the requirements for the position was that I have a bank account so that I can "process payments" through it. No company is dumb enough to have the entire payment for the invoice go to the employees account and then expect the employee to forward the companys portion to them.
I have forwarded her emails to my states attorney. I have also done all the tracking possible from my home computer and know exactly where her emails were sent from, I now have her IP address as well as her home address. One thing these idiots never do is to bother actually looking at your resume, otherwise she would have seen that I have a degree in computer sciences and finding someones address after they send you an email is not as hard as one thinks.

I hadn't responded to his email so he sent out another one saying there were two available positions available and that me and another person were both eligible for the jobs, but had to respond within 48 hours to notify if I wanted the job. Could not find anything online for this company, and they said to look at all of their certificates for verification.

Furthermore, it was registered out of Russia and the nameservers seem to be through China. This is not a guaranteed indicator of a fraud, but a good red flag to make you very wary.
