Finding The Right Web Designer
Posted by Greg Bulmash in Success, Techno Thoughts, Web ProgrammingOn the heels of my post about trying to find a coder for a small project, I find that my friend Aaron Dragushan of WonderMill (the company that brings you such cool sites as FreedBack) started his own blog, and his first post of the month is on finding a designer.
What I find interesting is that he not only discusses the criteria and the process of sorting the applications/resumes, but that he also offers a list of the sites where he posted his job opportunity, how much it cost to post the opportunity, how many decent candidates he got for his money, and what the average cost was.
Now, while my post dealt with hiring someone to provide a one-time service, his post dealt with hiring someone for a more long-term relationship. It's interesting to read both and see the similarities and differences in the processes. So let me definitely recommend you read Aaron's blog post on finding a designer.

Thanks for the mention Greg.
I agree it's an entirely different scenario when hiring for a one-time project. I like aiming for longer-term relationships since there's so much effort spent on the job posting process. Of course, if there's no way to extend it to being part time (even a few hours a month) then what can ya do.
