Actually, I downloaded NeoOffice V3 and it wouldn't boot. I Googled and found out I needed to install a patch. Since then, everything has been fine. It has been interesting, though, to see various projects rushing to get out Snow Leopard compatible versions of their apps. I recently had to update a couple of WordPress sites I'd been ignoring up to 2.8.4 due to the recent security issues and attacks. My favorite FTP/SFTP app (CyberDuck) had not been Snow Leopard compatible, but they released a SL compatible beta that day.

Installed and running without a problem, have not had an issue but this is probably because I don't use many additional apps and the ones I do still work or have been updated already.
(Yes had the Thunderbird issue in Windows) NeoOffice V3 does everything I need and this was coming from OpenOffice on a PC for a couple of years so I don't see a real issue here just a personal preference.

The only real issue I had was with mySQL - installing that beta version took care of that straightaway. Thanks for that!

Now I think about it, I'm sure I've seen that Thunderbird wrapping issue on Windows. Will watch out for it and come back for your solution if I see it again.

Other than that, an interesting read. And you're not the only one I've heard of having problems with Snow Leopard.

UPDATE: fixed the wrapping issue in Thunderbird. I noticed that the monospaced fonts didn't seem to be rendering correctly. I changed it from American Typewriter (?) to Courier and set the default encoding for incoming and outgoing to UTF-8. Now the message text wraps to the window width, though the super long Facebook URLs still stretch off the side.
